Wire Type Plug Gages

Plain wire type Plug gages are a reliable and economical method of ensuring quality controlled shipments of almost 100 5 useable parts. They detect andy workpiece that will not assemble satisfactorily.

Plug gages are available in a wide variety of shapes-round, square, hexagonal, virtually any shape needed. They are used to determine out of round holes, hole depths, and taper in a part. They can be made of steel, carbide, or chrome-plated steel. Selection depends on the number of parts to be tested and their abrasives. Dirt, moisture, and abuse are the natural enemies of plug gages and will greatly reduce their wear life

The GO end of a plug determines the ability of a workpice to be assembled by checking the minimum or low limit of a piece.

The NO GO end checks the maximum or high limit and controls the looseness of fit.

Wire type PLug gages are not made to the exact dimension of a piece part. They are limited to a gage tolerance of 10% of the work tolerance. Gagemakers tolerances for plain plug gages have been standardized in four classifications according to the degree of accuracy needed in a given gaging operation.
