Optical Flats
Van Keuren manufactures optical flats using only the most carefully selected annealed clear fused quartz. Fused quartz possesses a very low coefficient of linear expansion and is resistant to abrasion.
Van Keuren Optical flats are available in three different flatness tolerances.
Working Grade
equal to or less than.000004
Master Grade
equal to or less than.000002
Reference Grade
equal to or less than .000001
Each Flat comes with either one surface, or both surfaces ground, and come with a certificate of calibration stating the actual flatness directly traceable to the National Institute of standards & technology
The accuracy of the optical flat should be several times finer than the required
accuracy of the work piece.
